As well, we are looking to fill the following vacant Board Positions:
Vice President
The Vice President is to act for the President in the event of his/her absence, including presiding over Board meetings and annual meetings, and assumes the duties of the President in the event the President is unable to complete their term.
- Complaints Committee Chair: Serves as the primary intake point and Chair for the Complaints and Discipline Committee, ensuring all formal concerns are documented and addressed within stipulated timelines.
- Process Management: Oversees the fair application of the Code of Conduct for players, parents, and coaches, coordinating necessary interviews or hearings to resolve disputes.
- Policy Stewardship: Regularly reviews FYRA’s Bylaws and Operating Policies to ensure they remain current and align with Ringette New Brunswick (RNB) standards.
- Executive Support: Provides administrative and strategic support to the President and leads special projects or sub-committees as assigned by the Board of Directors.
- Member Advocacy: Acts as a liaison between the membership and the Board, helping to facilitate open communication and ensuring member concerns are formally brought to the executive table.
- Annual Reporting: Prepares and submits a formal report to the AGM regarding the status of the association's governance and any non-confidential disciplinary trends.
Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is to procure ice time from the City of Fredericton, book other facilities as needed, distribute ice time across all programs, and represent FYRA provincially for the coordination of the interlocking league schedule.
- Ice Procurement & City Liaison: Acts as the primary representative to the City of Fredericton Recreation Department to secure and manage seasonal ice contracts, ensuring FYRA’s needs are met within municipal allocation policies.
- Equitable Resource Distribution: Orchestrates the master ice schedule for the association, ensuring ice time is distributed equitably across all age groups and divisions—balancing practices, league games, and FYRA-hosted tournaments.
- Interlocking League Coordination: Represents FYRA at Ringette New Brunswick (RNB) scheduling meetings to integrate home ice slots into the interlocking provincial schedule and ensure league play requirements are fulfilled.
- Facility & Logistics Management: Manages the booking of all off-ice facilities for board meetings, clinics, and special events, serving as the logistical point of contact for the Board and the Secretary.
- Collaborative Season Launch: Spearheads the operational calendar for the season’s start in close coordination with the Director of Coaching and Director of Athlete Development, ensuring ice and facilities are secured for Tier 1 tryouts and divisional evaluations.
- Operational Reporting: Provides the Board with regular updates on ice utilization, seasonal timelines, and logistical deadlines, while proactively reporting on any facility issues or scheduling conflicts that arise.
Director of Athlete Development
The Director of Athlete Development is to ensure the ongoing development of athletes by continually seeking and improving learning opportunities, implementing and annually reviewing the FYRA Athlete Development Plan, and reporting on all developmental activities at regular Board meetings.
- Evaluation & Tryout Design: Spearheads the design and execution of the evaluation process for both Tier 1 (Competitive) tryouts and Community (Recreational) evaluations, ensuring objective scoring and fair placement for all athletes.
- Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD): Ensures that the Athlete Development Plan remains current and aligned with Ringette Canada’s LTAD standards to foster growth across all age divisions.
- Affiliate Program Oversight: Manages the FYRA Affiliate Player Program, coordinating the process for athletes to be called up in accordance with Ringette New Brunswick (RNB) policies.
- Play-Down Request Management: Reviews and oversees all player requests to "play-down" for the season, ensuring they meet medical or developmental criteria before presenting them to the Board of Directors for final approval.
- Player Skill Initiatives: Identifies and sources opportunities for specialized skill development, such as powerskating and shooting workshops, to enhance the technical growth of all FYRA members.
- Strategic Season Kick-off: Acts as a lead member of the Season Launch Team alongside the Director of Operations and Director of Coaching to secure evaluators and resources for a smooth season start.
- Resource Advocacy: Advocates for athlete-centered programming and ensures that both competitive and community streams have access to high-quality development resources.
