The Fredericton Youth Ringette Association will be holding referee courses on October 7th & October 20th. Click here to register.

Want to become a referee?

• Get paid a minimum of $20/game

Expectations of New Officials:

• Minimum 14 years of age
• Willing to commit to a minimum of one game per week
• Willing to officiate 1-2 games at the FYRA Early Bird tournament scheduled around your own games
• Outgoing, not afraid to blow your whistle! Willing to call penalties
• Excited to become an Official in FYRA!!

New Referee Training Program

• Complete an online learning module
• Attend a half-day clinic which includes 1 hour of on-ice instruction
• Receive one-on-one feedback and mentoring from a senior ref
• New officials are given a casebook and are expected to read it and learn the rules (it takes years to learn all the rules, but the casebook is a good start!)
• Each new official should receive at least 1 one-on-one evaluation in their first or second season

 
Officiating Training for the 2019-20 season

• A mandatory Level 1 clinic will take place Monday, October 7th (or you can choose to attend October 20th).  Candidates are expected to complete an online module prior to attending the clinic, attend the half-day clinic and complete an online exam, no exceptions.

• To sign-up for the Level 1 clinic go to the website.  Important: you will need to create and account, register, completed the online module (takes about 30 minutes), and then show for the course.
